A blog dedicated to the wonderful Pulitzer Prize winning author, Alice Walker. This page will have everything you need to know about Alice including a list of her most important work. Check it out! You may even become a fan!
I'm not sure where to comment on this blog that takes the entire site into account. I thought this was a very well thought-out blog, it seems like you guys really took the time to investigate the different novels by Alice Walker etc. It was also a cool idea to put the videos throughout that you guys found important. I decided to look at this blog after watching the presentation in class on Wednesday. I didn't realize how influential Alice Walker is just from learning about her briefly in class, and it was cool to get a more in-depth look at her. The onlyl critique I have is that I couldn't find anything in the blog about Alice Walker founding the first women's study course, which was mentioned in class. This seems like it would be something to include just because it is directly related to the class and proves that she has influenced every person taking this class right now. Overall, very informative and well laid out--nice job!

Hey Haley! Thanks for your comment! Yeah we didnt put that she founded the first Women's Studies course because she didnt. From what I found online, it was started at San Diego State University in 1970. Source: http://womenshistory.about.com/od/practice/a/womens_studies_programs.htm
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure where the presentation group got that information.

I apologize for the misunderstanding but we put information that we found on her over the internet as well as books. In several websites it states how she was one of the first people to found a Women's Studies course and in one, the one on which we based ourselves actually states that she was THE first one in their time line of her life. I'm sorry if the website was inaccurate but we deemed it a worthy source considering how much information they had on her.
ReplyDeleteI like the blog site! It has a lot of information that really introduces you to her. Since I was in the group that presented on her, I felt like I already knew a lot about her but there were some things that I learned from your blog so that was neat! It's very well organized as well! Great job!

Karina,
ReplyDeleteMaybe she created the first one at Wellesley College. I'm not sure. I don't blame your group for the misinformation. I probably would have believed the website as well.
Thanks for your comment on our blog!
